My pool was built in 1958, which might suggest why it has so much upkeep. I truly enjoy swimming and have all my life, but I’m 84 now, and no one but me has used the pool. Lately, after an interesting and exciting life I found myself with no real purpose and started searching for something new. I have written 3 books, started my pond and now I’m trying my hand at blogging. I already feel more fulfilled!
We had a storm in March, with wind and rain. A tree from the neighbor’s yard ended up in the middle of my pool. My son had to come over and pull it out and chop it into pieces. Needless to say, it all did not come out.
Within a week, the pool was green.
As I sat in the pergola that evening, surveying the mess, a wonderful thought came to me.
I had already considered getting rid of the work and expense of the pool by filling it with rock, covering it with dirt, and making a rose garden. But that would have been too expensive. This pool is 9 ft deep and holds 22,000 gallons of water! Plus the fact there was no way for a large truck to get into my yard.

As I sat in the pergola that evening, surveying the mess, a wonderful thought came to me. I envisioned painted walls, fish, and water lilies.
Why not turn the swimming pool into a pond?
And thus began my pool- to- pond adventure!
I had no idea what I was getting myself into!
